Meet Trey Wayne
A lifelong Seward County native, Trey Wayne has built his life, career, and family around service, integrity, and strong rural values. His roots run deep—stretching back five generations in Seward County—and those ties shaped a commitment to community that guides every step of his public safety career.
Trey grew up in Seward and later in rural Lancaster County, surrounded by a family dedicated to public service. His grandfather retired as Nebraska’s Deputy Director of Corrections, and several family members have proudly served in corrections and community safety roles. That legacy inspired Trey’s own path.
Today, Trey lives just south of Beaver Crossing with his wife, daughter, and a lively collection of animals on their small hobby farm. Whether tending goats, teaching his daughter about responsibility, or working alongside neighbors, Trey stays grounded in the values Seward County is built on—hard work, honesty, and respect for others.
Professionally, Trey is a well-rounded, highly trained public safety professional with extensive experience across law enforcement, fire service, EMS, emergency response, corrections, and private security. He currently serves as a Firefighter/EMT and FBI-certified Bomb Technician with Lincoln Fire & Rescue, completing over 280 hours of advanced training each year. Before joining LFR, he served six years as a Lincoln Police Department officer and continues to serve as a certified part-time officer with the City of Schuyler.
Trey has mentored young adults through the LPD Explorers Program, served as a School Resource Officer and Gang Liaison, and earned multiple awards for exceptional service—including numerous Life-Saving Awards and Meritorious Conduct recognitions from both LPD and LFR.
Approachable, grounded, and mission-driven, Trey believes in transparent leadership, accountable policing, and community-first service. His goal is simple: to build a Sheriff’s Office Seward County can be proud of—one rooted in integrity, professionalism, and the values we share.
